Riding the Dragonfly

I had a lot of fun with this one. My brother came to me a few months ago and said he liked my "fantasy" style paintings and would like me to create one featuring his four children somehow. I took some photos of the kids and came up with this. It is a 36"x24" oil and acrylic painting. I thought the kids would like to see themselves on an adventurous ride. In many cultures the dragonfly is a symbol of prosperity, good luck, strength, peace, harmony and purity so I thought it would be appropriate to have the children and dragonfly incorporated together. Something fun that is hidden in the painting are the stars and moon. When the lights go out, the stars and moon illuminate.

I showed these to my wife and she said we will have to hire you to do one for our family. I think when we build a house we will have to have you do some murals if you ahve the time. i would be a few more years for us.
